On 18 September at 5 p.m., steirischer herbst opens with an audio performance by LIGNA, ‘Freiheitsplatz’ (2025), which explores the concept of freedom, at Freiheitsplatz in Graz (free admission, registration required at steirischerherbst.at/en/info/4924/tickets). Participants in the performance will move to the Schauspielhaus, where the opening speech by artistic director Ekaterina Degot will take place. Afterwards, they will return to Freiheitsplatz, where visitors can enjoy drinks and music from the Paganin Soatnquartett.
From 8:30 p.m., the double evening of performances will take place in the Helmut List Halle (tickets available at: steirischerherbst.at/en/info/4924/tickets). The dance performance ‘Tribute to Kurt Jooss's “Green Table”’ (2025) by Manuel Pelmuș and Frédéric Gies will be followed by the performance ‘Hot Sotz’ (2025) by Ivo Dimchev. Afterwards, the opening party will begin with free admission, featuring Ivo Dimchev and aua&angst b2b anxxxious_t.
