Boundless Enthusiasm
What young orchestral musician doesn’t dream of performing Mahler’s Second Symphony one day? Styriarte makes it possible: from the powerful opening to the ecstatic finale, from the childlike trust in God of the ‘Urlicht’ to the final crescendo in ‘Auferstehn!’, this music knows no bounds when it comes to enthusiasm. Mei-Ann Chen has the power to inspire the Styriarte Youth Orchestra to new, unimagined heights and to lead the festival to its climax in its centrepiece.
